Sr Consilio praises ‘wonderful generosity’ ahead of annual Coffee Morning fundraiser

Addiction support charity to benefit from proceeds of annual Newry fundraiser

Cuan Mhuire, Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of support and rehabilitation treatment for individuals suffering from addiction and other related issues, is counting down to its annual fundraising Coffee Morning.

It will take place on Saturday, April 28, at its Dublin Road Centre from 10am until noon.

Sr Consilio Fitzgerald, founder of Cuan Mhuire, has extended an invitation to all to come along and enjoy a cuppa, a cake and a bit of craic.

Speaking about the generosity and support of the local communities, she said: “We couldn’t continue our work without the wonderful generosity of families, communities and individuals.

“Our Newry Charity Shop based in Hill Street,has gone from strength to strength. This would not be possible without the generous donations from people and the daily influx of customers to our shop.

“We really appreciate the support we are receiving from all.

“On behalf of the Cuan Mhuire family I extend an invitation to all to feel free and call into our Coffee Morning at our Newry Centre on the Old Dublin Road on Saturday, April 28, between 10am and 12pm.”

Grounded Espresso Bars Newry will once again be the main sponsor of the event.

Newry Mourne and Down Council Chairperson Roisin Mulgrew attended the launch of the Coffee Morning fundraiser in the Cuan Mhuire Charity Shop in Newry.

She said: “Cuan Mhuire since its formation in 1966 by Sr Consilio, has treated over 100,000 people.

“Now more than ever the life saving and changing services on offer from Cuan Mhuire are desperately needed and I wish Sr Consilio and the Cuan Mhuire family well in their continued endeavours to help those in need.”
