Tributes paid following death of missing man Thomas Harte

A man who had been missing from Newry since the early hours of last Sunday morning has tragically passed away.

Police had been searching for Thomas Harte following his disappearance from the city last weekend.

The 44-year-old was last spotted entering a local club in the area.

However, detectives investigating his disappearance, have today (Saturday) confirmed they are no longer looking for him.

Paul McEvoy Funeral Directors announced Mr Harte’s death on Friday evening.

“The death has occurred of Thomas Harte,” they said.

“Loving father of James, Jessica and Natasha, devoted son of Joey and the late Bernie R.I.P. and treasured brother of Ursula and Paula.

“At the request of the family and to come to terms with their sad loss the family residence will be private until Thomas arrives home.”

Funeral arrangements will be made available later.

Many have paid their tributes to ‘Tommy’ on social media.

One person said: “Rip Tommy you always looked out for me growing up and we had some good laughs over the years. Until we meet again bud.”

One woman added: “So so sad.. I will always treasure the great memories and laughs and Craic we had working together for years in lifestyle sports . The good old days ! Rest in peace Tommy and God bless your loved ones xx.”

Another said: “Really sorry to hear about the passing of tommy,RIP tommy,think uve shocked and stunned half of newry with ur passing,thoughts and prayers go out to ur sisters,ur father,ur nieces/nephew’s esp ur niece Megan and ur kids at this sad time….Fly high…..”
