Tributes have been paid to the co-owner of a mother-and-daughter run coffee shop in Warrenpoint, Nuala King.
Nuala was a former Co Armagh woman, born and raised in Keady, who relocated to the Rostrevor area in later life.
Together with her only daughter Aisling, she ran the popular Sweet Pea Coffee Shop on Duke Street, in Warrenpoint. In April 2026, they celebrated one year in their shiny, new premises but had already built a firm reputation for quality coffee served with a smile over a period of 12 years in their prior location.
Their hashtag is #SweetenYourDay – and that was something Nuala did without adding sugar.
Upon learning of her sad passing, many loyal customers and friends have shared their sincere sympathies, remembering her as a “true” and “lovely” lady.
Those who had the fortune of working behind the counter with the woman herself, similarly, regard her as warm and welcoming with a “personality you’d never forget”.
Nuala passed away this morning (August 26) peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
A death notice described her as the beloved mother of Aisling, mother-in-law of Gary and dear sister of Eileen (Steve), Lilian (Dave), Joan, Brian (Carmel) and the late Eunan.
Nuala’s remains will repose at her home today Wednesday August 26, from 6pm – 9pm and on Thursday August 27, from 12noon – 8pm.
Removal will take place on Friday August 28 at 10.30am arriving at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Rostrevor for 11am Requiem Mass. A cremation Service for Nuala will take place on Saturday August 29, at 9.30am in Dardistown Crematorium, Dublin.
