Vigilance call as window shattered in ‘attempt to gain entry’ to house in Newry

The overnight incident is being investigated

Newry window smashed

Newry residents are counting the cost after criminal damage to their home overnight.

A window was shattered in the incident, which happened in the Thomas Street area of the city.

Newry Sinn Fein councillor Liz Kimmins has appealed for vigilance.

She described it as an attempt to gain to the property.

Said councillor Kimmins: “Unfortunately this type of  activity is now all too regular.

“I would urge all to be vigilant and mindful of suspicious activity.

“I also urge anyone that might have details of this criminal incident or indeed any other such activities, to contact the PSNI.

“Those who carry out these selfish acts need to be apprehended and to face the full rigours of the law.”
