A woman has been arrested in connection with the sharing of a graphic image from a fatal road traffic collision in Newry earlier this month.
The 47-year-old was arrested by detectives in the city on Thursday morning, October 23.
She has been questioned on suspicion of misuse of a public electronic network to send a grossly offensive message.
This follows a road traffic collision in the Albert Basin area on Wednesday, October 8, where sadly 67-year-old John O’Brien passed away.
Mr O’Brien – a pedestrian – was tragically struck by a lorry shortly after 3.30pm.
A distressing image of the scene was subsequently shared online and was widely condemned.
The woman has since been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
