A Newry woman who pocketed more than £37,000 in benefit was sentenced on Monday.
Margaret McDonagh, 39, of Ardcarn Park, appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced.
The court heard how she claimed Housing Benefit and Income Support totalling £37,648 while failing to declare capital.
She was given a nine month prison sentence suspended for two years.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
