A “crude but viable” device was behind a security alert which saw residents evacuated from their homes earlier today (Friday).
The incident happened in the Moygashel area, on the outskirts of Dungannon around 10.15am.
Roads were closed as army technical officers examined the scene, before making the device safe.
Detective Inspector Mulholland added: “At approximately 10.15 am police received a report that a suspicious object had been left in the area.
“The object was examined by ATO who have declared it to be a crude but viable device that has now been made safe and taken away for further examination.
“Police would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation during the operation.
“Police are appealing for anyone with information that can assist with the investigation contact officers on 101 quoting reference 346 11/05/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
