There were five further Covid-related deaths reported by the Department of Health today (Friday).
Today’s stats – according to the official dashboard – take in the last 24 hours with four of the five passing away inside that period.
The overall total number of deaths recorded by the Department now stands at 2,026.
Of those deaths, the ABC Borough accounts for 266 Newry, Mourne and Down District 157; and Mid-Ulster with 188.
There were a further 313 positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, with 43 in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon – the second highest in NI. There was a further 27 in Newry, Mourne and Down and 38 in Mid-Ulster.
A total of 2,393 individuals were tested.
There are 403 people now in hospital as a result of the virus, 49 of whom are in intensive care units.
There are currently 33 ICU beds available in Northern Ireland.
A total of 132 Covid patients are currently in hospitals in the Southern Trust area with 75 in Craigavon; 17 in Daisy Hill; 34 in Lurgan; none in South Tyrone; and six in St Luke’s.
Meanwhile, the latest figures released by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) show there have been a further 68 Covid-19 related deaths in Northern Ireland.
It brings NISRA’s Covid-19 death toll to 2,691.
Of the 2,691 deaths, 1,736 (64.5%) took place in hospital, 747 (27.8%) in care homes, 13 (0.5%) in hospices and 195 (7.2%) at residential addresses or other locations.
