A man has died overnight from Covid-19, bring Northern Ireland’s fatalities to 23.
The BBC’s health correspondent Marie-Louise Connolly said the man sadly passed away overnight in the South Western area.
There are currently 533 confirmed cases of the virus here, however, the official figures from the Public Health Agency will not be published until later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Alan Todd, speaking on BBC Radio Ulster’s Nolan Show, said most people appear to be heeding the government’s guidance.
“I am delighted to say that since the regulations came in on Saturday evening we saw a marked change in people’s behaviour from Sunday onward,” he said.
“This is about keeping people alive and protecting the NHS.”
“The law is a part of that but actually listening to trauma surgeons and healthcare professionals, the very simple advice is to stay at home. You should only not be staying at home unless it is absolutely essential.”
