No new Covid-19 deaths in NI but cases jump for third day in a row

There have been no further Covid-19 related deaths in Northern Ireland over the last 24 hours, according to the Department of Health.

However, there have been 19 positive cases reported in that time frame, a significant jump for the third day in a row – bringing the total number of cases to 5,834.

There have been 56 positive cases in the last seven days.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport is reporting that eight Derry GAA clubs have suspended activity “as a precautionary measure” after reported of Covid-19 cases in the local community.

None of the clubs have reported any positive cases.

On Thursday the Public Health Agency identified a cluster of Covid-19 cases in the Limavady area linked to a social gathering.

It comes as the Armagh GAA club and cricket season kicks off this weekend with upwards of 30 fixtures taking place over the weekend.

The first GAA games throw in this evening but will be played with no spectators.
