Lockdown restrictions in Northern Ireland look set to be extended until April 1.
A review of those restrictions will take place on March 18, reports the BBC.
However, schoolchildren in primary 1-3 will return to the classroom on Monday, March 8 – a little under three weeks away. the remainder of pupils, up until Year 11 in secondary schools are not expected to return to school until after the Easter break.
Key exam years – years 12 to 14, will return to face-to-face learning on March 22.
It means the restrictions will remain in place over St Patrick’s Day but could be lifted in time for the Easter weekend, with Easter Sunday falling on April 4.
The First and Deputy First Ministers are expected to give an update on the latest measures at 4.15pm today.
Earlier today, the Department of Health confirmed there were a further six coronavirus-related deaths.
The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 2,021, according to the DoH.
Thursday’s dashboard update also reports a further 342 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 110,127 since the start of the pandemic.
