A tightening of Covid-19 restrictions across Northern Ireland is expected to be announced this afternoon (Thursday).
Health Minister Robin Swann and Chief Medical Officer Dr Michael McBride will address the media to detail the updates, which is expected to see the of the number of people allowed to meet indoors from 10 to six.
The moves to tighten restrictions, discussed by the Executive earlier, comes following a marked increase in the number of cases in recent weeks.
The last seven day has seen 298 positive cases – 51 of which have come in the last 24 hours.
Earlier today, the head of the Public Health Agency, Dr Gerry Waldron, said localised lockdowns were likely.
He said: “If things continue as they are going, I think it’s [local lockdown] practically inevitable, but hopefully people will take heed of the issue.”
The press conference is due to begin at 4.30pm.
