Two police officers had a lucky escape when their patrol vehicle was attacked by up to 10 masked men who threw bricks and paint.
The incident happened in the Moygashel Court area of Dungannon at around 11pm last night, Tuesday.
The officers had gone to the area after a telephone call for assistance but it later transpired the call was a hoax.
They withdrew from the area after their vehicle was struck.
Supt Jamison said this evening the officers had a lucky escape and condemned those responsible.
He appealed to those in the area to turn their backs on those who would conduct such attacks and appealed for anyone with information to contact the non-emergency number 101.
