Organisers appeal for stewards to help in Keady’s record-breaking bid

The organisers of this weekend’s Guinness World Record attempt in Keady have appealed to Armagh I followers to spare an hour to help!

The ‘Day of the Dead’ record-breaking bid takes place on Saturday, October 31, as part of the Hallowe’en Festival activities in the town.costumes

A registration event has already taken place and there has been a fantastic interest from the public, all keen to see the South Armagh town smash the record set in Mexico last Hallowe’en, when 509 people gathered together dressed as ‘La Catrinas and Le Catrines’.

A spokesperson for the organisers – now putting the finishing touches to the preparations of what should be a fantastic cross-community celebration for Keady – asked for volunteers.

“The Festival Committee is made up of a handful of volunteers and we are asking people to offer an hour or so to help steward for all our events,” she said.

“The World Record will take place at the Tommy Makem Arts & Community Centre in Keady – stewards hould be there for 2pm.

“It shouldn’t take more than an hour. We need people for the fairground and fireworks too.”

The record attempt has been registered and people have signed up, agreeing, as it’s a fundraiser, to pay a £2 charge which will help buy a defibrillator for the town.

This family event will take place between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, outside the new Tommy Makem Arts and Community Centre.

If you can help out by offering your services as a steward, turn up on the day and make yourself known!
