Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following an attempted burglary which occurred on the Shaughan Road area of Belleeks in South Armagh at approximately 4.15pm on Friday, February 7.
A passing motorist attempted to apprehend the offender and whilst doing so was assaulted. He later attended hospital for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
The offending male is described as approximately 6ft in height, athletic build, broad shoulders, wearing black boots, black jeans, a black hoody with the hood pulled up and a black scarf around his face. He made off on foot across hills.
Detectives would appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to the male matching the above description or indeed any suspicious persons, activity or vehicle around the area at the time to contact them at Newry on 0845 600 8000.
