Where would charities, community groups and many vulnerable people be without the extra and often crucial financial help provided by fundraisers?
The two people shortlisted for Armagh I Fundraiser of the Year Award (sponsored by Sealmax Roofing) are Deirdre Breen and Deirdre McCann. Vote for your winner here.
Deirdre Breen had been nominated by Daryll Galloghly for her fundraising work for the Southern Area Hospice.
He wrote: “For almost 20 years, Deirdre Breen has been fundraising for Southern Area Hospice. The support that Deirdre provides within the Lurgan area for hospice has been amazing as she has raised almost one million pounds for it.
“Deirdre is friendly, hardworking and a great person to be around, especially with her wee dog Cindy. Nothing is ever an issue with Deirdre, she goes above and beyond for Southern Area Hospice, and we are so grateful and appreciative of all the work she does.” Vote for Deirdre Breen here.
Meanwhile, Eileen Armstrong nominated Deirdre McCann for her “endless work for the less fortunate in our community”.
She said: “In addition to consistently filling out forms to ensure people are receiving the correct benefits… Deirdre has always carried out fundraising to assist one charity after another.
“This year she has been raising funds to help families who are struggling this Christmas. In addition cash donations have made it possible for more toys to be purchased…as well as vouchers for gas, electric and food.
” A tireless fundraiser throughout the years, Deirdre has made a significant impact by raising awareness of the plight of people who struggle to subsist.”
