A planning application for a major environmental improvement scheme in Richhill is to be advertised this week, Armagh I can reveal.
The application, submitted by Armagh City and District Council, will open to public consultation from this coming Wednesday, December 5.
It is one of two environmental improvement schemes currently planned in the district, with the other being at Keady.
The proposals, for which full planning permission is being sought, centre on lands adjacent to Nos 1 – 7 The Square , St Matthew’s Church of Ireland (pictured) and Richhill Castle and Grounds, Richhill.
The work would see major environmental improvements being carried out in the village.
It includes resurfacing and new paving to pedestrian footpaths and public spaces, new street furniture, replacement street lighting and tree planting.
Just two weeks ago Armagh I reported that contracts were expected to be awarded shortly for both the Richhill and Keady works.
Armagh City and District Council had gone out with a pre-qualification questionnaire in a bid to appoint contractors to see the ambitious plans through.
The full plans were finally given the go-ahead of the council last month and local councillors are ensuring the momentum holds.
The council is seeking a contractor to carry out both schemes.
The deadline for expressions of interest was yesterday (Friday).
