THE £6 million project for the redevelopment of the People’s Park is moving ahead, with full plans submitted to the Department of the Environment this week.
The plans list the development of leisure facilities, including a new pavilion, multi-use games area, grass pitches and synthetic pitch, play area, car park, lighting, planting and boundaries.
There will also be new paving, kerbs, lighting and drop-off bays to the Tunnel.
A Craigavon Council spokesperson said, if the plans are approved, a contractor will be appointed in January.
The park would then close from February until June approximately for the work to be completed.
She explained: “The park will close for health and safety reasons but we will announce full details nearer the time.”
