Police defend parking in disabled spot in Richhill

Police have defended their use of a disabled parking space in Richhill.

The police car was spotted just outside SuperValu, on the village’s Main Street, parked in the disabled spot – without a blue badge.

However, when questioned over the photo taken by a local resident, a police spokesman defended the parking.

“Police vehicle exemptions for restricted parking areas are in place for officers on official police business and/or emergency calls,” said Inspector Kieran Quinn.

“If a member of the public has concerns about police vehicles in restricted parking areas, they should contact their nearest station in the first instance so that enquiries can be progressed immediately to determine the reason for the vehicle being parked in the area and the identity of the officers.”
