Police were forced to smash the windscreen of a car to rescue eight dogs which had been left locked inside a car.
The incident happened this morning and has prompted the PSNI to remind people never to leave dogs locked inside a vehicle.
The eight dogs had been left for several hours locked inside a car in Banbridge and, according to the PSNI, it had caused the animals “great distress”.
“Thankfully the dogs are now all safe but this could have had a much sadder ending,” say police.
Police have confirmed that the owner has made a full admission to causing unnecessary suffering to animals.
A file is now being prepared for submission to the Public Prosecution Service who will decide on the outcome.
