Forty new homes could be built in Portadown under plans for a multi-million pound investment in the local housing market.
The development has been earmarked for lands between Epworth Methodist Church and 89 Montague Street, and a short distance from St Francis Private Nursing Home at Charles Street.
Proposals have been drawn up and lodged with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration.
If successful, a total of 40 properties, of different types, would be built.
This would comprise 24 two-storey semi-detached houses, 10 two-storey detached houses and six townhouses.
A total of 100 parking spaces would also be provided for the use of tenants and visitors, and the plans also incorporate landscaping and other associated siteworks.
The applicant is the Portadown-based Arkle Holdings NI Ltd.
According to a transport assessment form, the proposed main site accesses are from Montague Street.
It adds: “The internal roads terminate in turning heads enabling vehicles to enter and exit in a forward gear.
“The scale of the development is such that traffic generation will not be sufficiently large to have a detrimental impact in terms of noise and air quality.”
The site is described in the application as an “approved building site” which is currently vacant.
The proposals will now be advertised shortly.
