The Alliance Party have announced that Eóin Tennyson will be contesting the Upper Bann seat in the upcoming Westminster Election.

Tennyson, who is currently an MLA for the same area, will be hoping to claim the seat from incumbent MP Carla Lockhart when the country goes to the polls on July 4.

Following his selection, Mr Tennyson said, “It is always an honour to be selected by local members to represent Alliance in Upper Bann and I thank them for putting their faith in me once again.

“This General Election is an opportunity for people to not only replace a Conservative government that has been negative and regressive over the past 14 years, but also to hold to account the local politicians who propped them up and voted with them on some of their most destructive policies.”

He added: “Many have started this campaign focused on constitutional fearmongering and division, but it is vital that the people of Upper Bann and Northern Ireland have constructive and progressive representatives at Westminster.

“Issues such as growing a dynamic and sustainable economy, delivering fair funding for public services, and ending political instability through reform should be key priorities in this election.

“While others cosy up to the Tories or refuse to take their seats, Alliance is committed to leading change at Westminster.  On 4th July, voters in Upper Bann have the chance to return a positive and progressive voice who will take their seat and deliver on the issues that matter to them.”
