The Lord Mayor’s chosen charity, NI Cancer Fund for Children, has benefited from almost £400 through two wonderful festive events that has saw people come out and enjoy family time while donating to this amazing cause! And there is still time for you to get involved!
Last Sunday saw around 100 people dressed in their most festive outfits join the Lord Mayor, Councillor Mealla Campbell and Santa Claus for a saunter around Portadown People’s Park.
Thankfully the weather was kind and everyone enjoyed getting out in the fresh air and involved in some exercise in the beautiful park, all while supporting a very worthwhile cause at the same time.
A fun warm up session complete with Christmas music was held in the 3G pitch before the Lord Mayor and Santa led everyone on a walk through the park, followed by teas and coffees!
“What a brilliant afternoon we all had on Sunday and I was delighted to see so many faces coming out to support the ‘Santa Saunter’ and to give so generously to my chosen charity,” commented the Lord Mayor.
“It was a beautifully crisp, sunny day, the children were delighted to meet Santa, we all got a little bit of exercise and enjoyed a couple of hours in our beautiful park. A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along and donated – I know this money will go a long way to helping those who need it.”
A Christmas Wonderland is also being held at Edenvilla Park, Portadown and isn’t to be missed! It is a magical scene of twinkling lights and festive fun, so if you haven’t already been there is still plenty of time!
It is free to visit but you can make a donation which will go towards the NI Cancer Fund for Children.
The Christmas Wonderland will be open until Sunday 5th January. Opening times are Monday to Friday 9am – 4.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm (Closed on 24th, 25th, 26th Dec and 1st Jan).
