CCTV footage to be handed over after trouble flares during Mid-Ulster derby

Glenavon Football Club is to hand over CCTV footage to the PSNI after reports of trouble flaring during the Boxing Day derby against Portadown FC.

It was reported that there were missiles and flares being thrown from both sides after Rhys Marshall scored the only goal of the afternoon for Glenavon at Mourneview Park.Glenavon football ground

Tonight Glenavon FC released a statement and confirmed the PSNI had been asked to investigate any criminal offences committed as a result of a “small number of fans engaging in totally unacceptable behaviour at yesterday’s game”.

It added: “Glenavon and Portadown are thankful for PSNI intervention when called upon to assist our stewards who were unable to control the numbers involved.

“Both clubs have agreed to assist with the subsequent PSNI investigation.

“CCTV footage will therefore be handed over to help with PSNI enquiries.”
