A Portadown woman is appealing for witnesses after a car collided with the front door of her parents’ house.
Nicola Ebbitt shared photos from the scene on social media shortly after the incident, which occurred at 10pm last night (May 17).
It happened at the junction of the Drumnacanvy Road and the Bleary Road on the outskirts of the town.
The car collided with the house after a white van is reported to have pulled out onto the man road in front of the vehicle.
According to witnesses, the van then drove on from the scene.
The incident resulted in significant damage to the vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Nicola says the white Ford Transit van was travelling from the direction of Knocknamuckley towards Blacker’s Mill, before turning right at the junction of the Bleary Road.
Speaking to Armagh I, Nicola said: “I am appealing for information or footage of the activity of this van on the Bleary Road around 10pm. The driver of this van proceeded to drive out in front of this oncoming car on the main Drumnacanvy road and failed to stop.
“I am not only looking to highlight this particular incident but also the speed of vehicles on this stretch of the Drumnacanvy road is atrocious.
“My parents house is right at the junction. We are just thankful they were uninjured as well as the driver of the car but dread to think what could’ve been the outcome.
“I would appeal to all local councillors in the area to discuss how to manage the speed of vehicles on this stretch of road and the possibility of installing a crash barrier at this junction.”
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “The collision was reported at 10.02pm last night. The car that left the road and hit the house remained at the scene. There were no injuries reported but the car and house were damaged.”
