A major extension looks to be on the cards for a County Armagh primary school.
And the development – if given the go-ahead to proceed – will completely transform Presentation Primary in Portadown.
An application for the works – estimated to cost in excess of £500,000 by Construction Information Services – has been submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
The Trustees of Presentation Primary, which is located at Thomas Street, are seeking approval for a two-storey extension to the rear of the existing buildings.
It will involve the addition of five new classrooms.
The new construction will also the school benefit from the provision of a multi-purpose room, resource area, staff areas, library, hall, storage, cloakrooms, toilets and office accommodation.
The application also seeks approval for refurbishment of the existing building.
The proposals are due to be formally advertised this week.
