Portadown high street has today (Tuesday) been dealt a blow with the departure of a well-known independent store.
McQuillan’s Menswear, which has been a welcoming and permanent fixture in the town for 60 years, is one of two stores to announce it is closing or being put up for sale.
The men’s store says it is holding a liquidation sale of all remaining stock and shop fittings this Saturday, September 30.
The shop was first opened by Brendan McQuillan in West Street in 1963 and has been at its current William Street address since 1974.
Brendan’s son, Martin, has run the shop in recent times and only last year announced renovation works which would see a dental practice take over some of the shop’s floorspace.
