Two brothers – each with experience in the auto trade – have picked Co Armagh as the ideal location to open their new business… despite neither of them being from the area!
Glen Kelly, from Castlecaulfield, and Nathan Frew, from Ballynahinch have always been interested in cars, but in developing their own skills over time, they each went into different ends of the industry.
Glen has been involved in the tyre industry for at least 20 years before upskilling in alloys further on in his career.
Nathan has been a mechanic for nine years and built his own very successful business in Ballynahinch.
They each had skills that complimented one another and so going into business together was a no-brainer.
One thing they both knew was that location was key! After a fair amount of research they discovered a prime opportunity on the Portadown Road.
The space – located on the forecourt of the Go Filling Station – was ideal. It offered ample room, parking and the passing traffic they knew they needed.
Said Glen: “Where he is [Nathan’s business in Ballynahinch], it’s in the middle of nowhere and with here we have constant passing trade.
“For us to really boost the tyre end of things we need to be facing the customers and it’s a very, very busy road.”
Since launching NF Tyres in October the duo have been working predominantly on the tyre and alloys end of the business with Nathan booking in mechanicing work mainly on Saturdays as he continues to look after business in Ballynahinch.
They offer everything from tyre fitting, wheel alignments and puncture repair to TMPS diagnosis and have an impressive range of approximately 600 tyres in stock!
Alloys are also heavily stocked, but if a customer wants something more bespoke or specific they can order them in from their supplier with next day delivery usually available. They also offer services in modification with body kits available for those interested in giving their vehicle a fresh upgrade!
Currently, they open Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 6pm, Wednesday from 9am – 7.30pm, Thursday and Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday a half-day from 9am to 1.30pm.
