A fundraising effort has been launched to support the daughter and unborn child of a Portadown man killed in a collision between a car and motorbike last Saturday (April 25).
The horrific incident in the Upper Ballinderry area of Lisburn claimed the lives of two Portadown men, Malek Kerbache – the driver of the car – and Mateusz Prokopiuk, who was driving the motorbike.
The fundraiser has been launched to support the young daughter and unborn child of Mateusz. A child who will now regrettably “never have the chance to meet their dad”.
Launched by Adam Zabielowicz, the fundraiser description said that Mateusz “should be here today, smiling beside his family and preparing to welcome his second child into the world”.
Sadly, his family have been left mourning his loss and grappling to come to terms with their new reality.
Describing an accompanying picture, Adam said: “This photo captures a moment of joy, hope, and the future they were building together. A future that has now been changed forever.”
He described Mateusz a “kind, hardworking, loving young man whose smile touched everyone around him”. He was a “devoted father, caring partner, and loyal friend”.
Adam is graciously requesting donations of any amount to help support Mateusz’s partner, Monika, their little daughter Lily and their unborn child.
Funds raised will provide “security for the years ahead” and will go toward everyday needs, childcare, and future opportunities as they grow.
The effort has already raised more than £3,000 – a third of its target – since opening just three days ago.
Said Adam: “Thank you for your kindness, support, and for keeping Mateusz’s family in your thoughts.”
A celebration of Life will be held at “The Old Meeting House” 24a Portmore Street, Portadown BT62 3NG on Tuesday May 5, at 4.30pm.
The family have asked that those attending wear colourful clothes as a reflection of Mateusz’s life.
