Female staff member assaulted during robbery at licensed premises in Portadown

A 19-year-old was arrested a short time after the robbery in which the culprit stole money from the till and fled on foot

A teenager has been on suspicion of robbery after a female member of staff was assaulted and money stolen from licenced premises in Portadown.

Police made the arrest in relation to a report of a robbery at Killycomain Road last night (Saturday).

Inspector Mills said: “Shortly after 7.30pm, it was reported that a man had entered the premises and assaulted a female staff member, before making off on foot with a sum of cash from the till.

“A 19-year-old male was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody at this time.

“Enquiries are ongoing, and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have any information which could assist us, to get in touch.

“The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1498 of 07/01/23.”
