A large fire broke out inside the Halifax bank branch in Portadown this evening (Tuesday).
The blaze caught hold inside the premises, which is currently located on the corner of High Street and Woodhouse Street.
Emergency services rushed to the scene – fire crews from Portadown helped extinguish the blaze.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Social media footage shows flames engulf one half of the branch, mainly on the Woodhouse Street side, likely causing serious and extensive damage.
While the scene is now under control, the area has been cordoned off by police as firefighters continue their work.
Portadown DUP MLA, Jonathan Buckley, commented: “A fire has taken place at Halifax, Portadown in the last hour, it has now been fully extinguished by the Fire Service and the road has reopened for town centre traffic.
“I have been liaising with Police alongside Councillor Kyle Moutray and they have confirmed an individual has been arrested in connection with the incident.
“I can confirm that no one has been injured.”
