A former Amazon delivery driver who stole a £1,200 iPhone will be sentenced next month.
Iosif Risto, with an address in West Street in Portadown, appeared in Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with two counts of theft. A single count of fraud by false representation was withdrawn.
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty with the help of a Romanian interpreter and while details of the offences were not read out, they occurred on dates between December 28, 2022 and January 10, this year.
He is accused of stealing an iPhone valued at £1,200 on January 10 and a TV bracket, valued at £40, on December 28. He is left on a false delivery note on the same date “to make a gain for yourself or another”.
District Judge Francis Rafferty queried whether Risto was still an employee of Amazon, to which prosecution confirmed he was no longer on the company’s payroll.
A pre-sentence report was ordered with Risto due back in court on July 5 for sentencing.
