A heartbroken small business owner in Portadown says she had to make the difficult decision to close her store down due to “continually rising costs”.
Kerry Crawford, who owns the Apple Patch – a popular life coffee shop based out of the Woolsey Shopping Complex on the Moy Road – posted the “difficult news” on her social media this evening (Wednesday).
Kerry announced her business will cease trading in November.
“I have made this decision due to continually rising costs and difficulties recruiting new staff,” she wrote.
“It has been truly heartbreaking to make this decision. I really want to thank all our customers, all our staff (past and present), friends and family, neighbouring businesses, landlord and suppliers for their help and support over the past five years.
“It has been an exciting journey and would not have been possible without you all.
“We have a few months to go so hope to see you all to enjoy some of your Apple Patch favourites while you can.”
Hundreds of people have reacted to the news, with many praising the shop and their fondness for the “little haven”.
One person described it as “truly one of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to”.
Another said: “The Apple Patch has been a little haven for us over the past few years. We will miss you all so much.”
Others praised Kerry – “a determined young woman” – for her achievements in business to date and wished her luck with her future endeavours.
“I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and food at The Apple Patch. Praying for you all in your next chapter,” wrote another.
