A number of homes have been evacuated following a major gas leak in Portadown.
Emergency services have cordoned off an area of Bridge Street this evening (Thursday) in order to deal with the incident.
Motorists have also been advised that road closures are in place at Bridge Street.
Police say a number of homes in the area have been evacuated.
Please avoid the area if possible.
At present, there is no indication as to how long the operation will last.
Armagh I understands it isn’t an issue with the mains gas network.
8.55PM police update: “Police are still working with our partner agencies to resolve the ongoing gas leak in Bridge Street, Portadown.
“We thank you for your patience and can advise ABC Council have opened Portadown Town Hall for those persons currently evacuated.”
11.30PM update: The road has been re-opened and residents allowed to return home.
