A man caught with cocaine – his 39th conviction for drugs – has been jailed for two months.

Caolan Shields (37), with an address listed as Garvaghy Close in Portadown, was detected with cocaine on March 12 last year.

The case was dealt with at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, where he appeared via video link from prison.

A defence solicitor said it was a very small amount for personal use.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan said it was the defendant’s 39th drugs conviction “and he is simply not learning the lesson”.
