The long awaited Park and Ride car park at Portadown train station has been opened.
The new £3.1m 347-space car park, with enhanced cycle parking, was opened over the weekend.
It will be welcome news and will come as huge relief to local residents who will hope to see their streets finally cleared of commuter traffic.
The facility, situated between Obins Street, Corcrain Road and the Northway in the town, will be covered by cctv 24-hours a day for the security of users.
Work started on the site in November 2017 but has opened ahead of its scheduled Autumn date.
Translink Project Manager Aidan Stott said: “This new Park and Ride will significantly enhance parking availability for our passengers in Portadown and surrounding areas.
“[It] will benefit commuters from the Armagh and Dungannon areas who wish to use the new Park and Ride”.
Mr Stott concluded: “The development of Park and Ride facilities across Northern Ireland is a key part of our focus in encouraging passengers to use our bus and train services”.
