A 43-year-old man is accused of exposing his private parts to children who were at a nursery school in Portadown.
Philip Michael Wilson, with an address listed as Garvaghy Park in the town, is also alleged to have exposed himself to a female officer on the same day – Wednesday August 12.
He is also charged with possession of zopiclone.
Objecting to bail, a police officer told Friday’s Craigavon Magistrates’ Court that at 1pm on Wednesday, the PSNI received a report of a male “acting suspiciously outside a nursery school at Garvaghy Road”.
A woman at the nursery school told police a male had approached the fence of a “children’s playground and pulled his trousers down so that his black underwear was on show”.
The man then allegedly knelt down “outside the gate” with his trousers down and his private parts could be seen.
When he was approached by the woman, the male said he had done nothing wrong and “made off” towards a cemetery beside the playground.
Police located a male matching the description in the graveyard and he allegedly exposed himself as he walked towards a female officer.
When searched he had six zopiclone tablets.
A defence lawyer said the defendant had been visiting a grave at a graveyard and had gone to an area of bushes to “relieve himself” and denies indecent exposure.
The lawyer claimed the defendant, whom he described as a chronic alcoholic, had been near a school and picked up a football which came over a fence and had spoken to an adult at the school.
Deputy District Judge Austin Kennedy refused bail. The defendant was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned until September 11.
