Man accused of attempted grievous bodily harm of woman to face Crown Court

jailed craigavon court

A man accused of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on a female will face Crown Court proceedings in the new year.

The 62-year-old is also alleged to have intimidated the same woman in breach of restraining order.

Thomas Edward Finn, of no fixed abode, appeared charged with attempting to commit grievous bodily harm and breaching a restraining order at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday.

As the charges were read, court heard that both offences were alleged to have been committed by the defendant on June 13, of this year.

Finn is alleged to have “attempted to unlawfully and maliciously inflict grievous bodily harm upon” a named female.

He is also accused of, at an address in Portadown, intimidating the same female, which he was prohibited from doing by virtue of a restraining order.

Appearing via videolink from Maghaberry, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence barrister Joel Lindsay made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Amanda Brady, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, remanded the defendant in custody to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on February 22.

It was noted that bail had been granted to Finn but he had, as of yet, not been able to perfect this.
