A Portadown man who stole four boxes of Magners cider will have to wait to learn his fate after being told he is at risk of going to prison.
The district judge told the 31-year-old: “You have a very relevant record and you are at risk of immediate custody. You could make a start by having a good report.”
Owen Roe Fay, 31, of Thomas Street, pleaded guilty to theft at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
As the charge was read, it was heard that the defendant stole four boxes of Magners to the value of £32 from Tesco on October 29.
Defence solicitor Jarlath Fields stated: “I feel like this would be a case where a report would be helpful and I would also like to seek some medical evidence.”
District Judge Steven Keown told Fay: “You have a very relevant record and you are at risk of immediate custody. You could make a start by having a good report.”
The case was adjourned until December 20 for sentencing.
