A man has been charged in connection with a late-night incident in which a number of motorcycles were pursued by police as they travelled at “dangerous speeds” across parts of Banbridge, Lurgan and Portadown.

Police in Lurgan said a 30-year-old man has now been charged with a number of offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for police, following the incident in the early hours of Saturday, July 25.

He is expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 26.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charge follows an earlier appeal by police.

At that stage officers said the investigation was ongoing and appealed for anyone with footage – including dash-cam, CCTV or other digital recordings – of the motorcyclists in the Banbridge area, or of the police pursuit in the Plantation Road area of Lurgan and into the Corcrain Drive/Westland Road area of Portadown, to come forward.

Information can still be provided to police on 101, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
