
A man used lighter fluid to set fire to his room at his accommodation in Portadown and sent a video of him doing so to a social worker.
Stefan Sedtke, with an an address listed as Tandragee Road, was sentenced at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on a charge of attempted arson at Praxis Care property on February 26 this year.
The 22-year-old appeared at court via video link from prison where he is on remand.
He is currently awaiting sentencing in the Crown Court for arson of a lorry.
Regarding the case before the Magistrates’ Court it was said he used lighter fuel to start a fire in his room but it burnt itself out without any damage being reported. Firefighters had been called.
Police located the defendant at Thomas Street in Portadown where he was “visibly frustrated”.
Deputy District Judge Gerard Trainor said there are “positive things” about the defendant in a pre-sentence report.
The defendant was sentenced to five months in prison.
