A motorist clocked doing 101mph has been told “very few people” are trained to drive at that speed.
Aodhan Girvan (27), of Dungannon Road, Coalisland, was detected in the area of Junction 12 at The Birches on the M1 motorway – a 70mph zone – on Saturday March 8 this year.
A defence lawyer said the “speed crept up”.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan, speaking at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, told the defendant: “Neither you nor I are trained to drive at that speed, very few people are. If something happens at that speed there is simply no time to react and something awful could happen.”
The defendant was given five penalty points and was fined £135.
