Serving its patrons since the early 1800s, the West End Bar is one of Co. Armagh’s oldest watering holes.
For the best part of two centuries it has been delighting customers in Portadown and beyond – a traditional pub in every sense of the word.
The historic drinking establishment has been re-introduced to the market this summer in the hope of finding someone to take over from the current owners.
It may be the end of an era for the current tenants of Bowles but a new beginning for another; it’s on the market for just shy of half a million pounds.
The well-maintained pub contains a large bar, lounge area, pool table area, smoking area, kitchen and a full bar trading licence.
Two spacious apartments above the bar are also included.
Original fixtures include the original bar (including still functioning liquor casks) and a large mirror from the 1800s.
The mirror was made in 1872 in Belfast for Castle Bellingham Ale and Stouts. It is the largest advertisement mirror ever made by William W. Clelland Ltd, rendering it one of a kind.
The original bar and liquor casks are also present and in excellent condition, which only helps maintain the character built through this bar for many years.
