Portadown man accused of attempting to have ‘sexual communication’ with decoy posing as child

A man is accused of attempting to have a sexual communication with a decoy pretending to be a child.

Gerald John Brampton-Wood (40), with an address on his charge sheet as Garvaghy Park in Portadown, is charged in relation to between May 21-29 this year.

He is also charged with attempting to incite the child decoy to engage in sexual activity.

The case was mentioned at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Full details regarding the background to the charges were not outlined to the court.

A prosecutor said the full case file is due with her department from police by July 16.

However, it is understood the case is connected to an online sting.

The defendant was further remanded in custody and the case was adjourned to July 24.
