A Portadown man has denied charges of possessing and intent to supply drugs and being in possession of shotgun cartridges.
Tiernan Gordon, from Garvaghy Park, appeared before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, charged with two counts of possessing a Class B controlled drug, two counts of intent to supply; one count of being concerned in the supply of drugs; and possessing ammunition, namely 3 x 12 bore shotgun cartridges without holding a firearm certificate.
The 26-year-old appeared for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE) – the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
During the brief hearing Gordon confirmed his name and date of birth and that he did not object to the holding of a PE.
While none of the facts of the case were outlined, the court heard the alleged offences occurred on February 6, 2023.
The prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer – District Judge Michael Ranaghan agreed.
Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.
Gordon was remanded on continuing bail until his arraignment hearing at Craigavon Crown Court on January 14.
