A Portadown man who is accused of making multiple indecent images of children will face Crown Court proceedings next month.
The 56-year-old appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Robert David Fryers, of Seagoe Road, is charged with 15 counts of making indecent photographs, four counts of possessing an indecent photograph and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
As these charges were read, it was heard that all of the offences are alleged to have occurred either on October 1, of 2015, or March 13, of 2017.
Appearing via videolink from his solicitor’s office, Fryers made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence barrister Colm Fegan made no contrary submissions.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer and the defendant was released on continuing bail to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on June 22 for arraignment.
