Diversions will be in place when a £90,000 resurfacing scheme gets underway in Portadown next week.
The improvement work, which stretches for 875 metres on the Charlestown Road – between Ballyneary North Road and Bailiff’s Lane – includes resurfacing of the carriageway and upgrading of road drainage.
Delays are possible and the Department for Infrastructure is asking for patience of road users while the scheme – which is due to start on Thursday, June 11 – is completed.
To facilitate the works it will be necessary to implement a series of daily road closures from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
A signed diversionary route will be in place using Ballyneary North Road and Derrytrasna Road.
Access for residents will be maintained and road closures will only be in place when work is ongoing.
A spokesperson for the DofI said: “The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public.
“We reiterate the advice that only essential travel should take place. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.”
Work is expected to take two weeks to complete and will depend upon favourable weather.
The spokesperson added: “All work will be carried out in line with current public health and health and safety advice, with safe systems of working in place for staff and contractors.”
