A sheltered-housing scheme approved for Portadown almost 20 years ago could be set to take a significant step forward, if the right buyer is found.
The scheme earmarked for 19-25 Thomas Street back in 2008 was partially constructed but never finished.
Plans for the 24 unit property were initially granted to Thornton Trust – a now dissolved business development company – who, according to Companies House, were responsible for several Thomas Street properties between 2005 and 2008.
The company had managed to progress their plans for the sheltered housing scheme to a stage of partial construction, thereby retaining the planning permission approved in 2008.
However, the properties have since laid in that half-built condition surrounded by metal fencing since then, with no further works commencing.
Now, under the agency of Tom Henry & Company, the property is hoping to attract a new buyer with the view of completing the scheme.
Full permission is already approved for 24 apartments and three retail units.
The retail units would be comprised within the ground floor of the building with the apartments across three floors above.
The agent explains that 22 of the apartments would be 2-bedroom and two would be one-bedroom. All would benefit from a courtyard carpark.
