
The Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Alderman Stephen Moutray was delighted to host Mr Mark Jameson to the Mayor’s Parlour this week to congratulate him on being presented the prestigious League of Mercy Award which he received in London on July 11, 2025.
The distinguished award is issued every year by the League of Mercy Foundation to volunteers for their outstanding service to their organisations and communities.
Congratulating Mark on this recognition the Lord Mayor thanked him for his work with the Ancre Somme Association and also his fantastic fundraising efforts with the Mid Ulster Mountaineers group.
Mark – who hails from Portadown – founded the Mid Ulster Mountaineers hiking group in 2019 which, every year, plans consistent fundraisers for charities being of particular significance to a group member.

The Lord Mayor’s words were agreed with by Carla Lockhart MP and Jonathan Buckley MLA who both know of Mark’s passion for the Ancre Somme Association and the work they carry out as well as well as his marathon fund raising efforts and wished him well.
Mark commented that he received the award on behalf of all those involved with both groups and the Lord Mayor wished him well for his future efforts which included a fund raising cycle this weekend.
