The former minister of a Portadown Church, who only celebrated his retirement in 2017, passed away suddenly on Saturday.
Rev Dr Kenneth Elliott served 43 years of ministry at Bethany Free Presbyterian Church in Portadown before his retirement in 2017.
Despite that retirement, the Rev Dr was bestowed with the title of Minister Emeritus.
He started his preaching career as a student minister with Omagh Free Presbyterian Church.
Kenneth was ordained in 1973, and joined Bethany, which had been formed just six years earlier, in 1973.
It was a natural calling for him, a man born-and-bred in Edenderry, adjacent to Chambers Park.
Kenneth was a vital part of the wider Free Presbyterian Church. He was a lecturer at the Church’s Whitfield College of the Bible, originally teaching students subjects like personal evangelism and the outline of Christian Doctrine.
In 1999, he was appointed Professor of Homiletics and Pastoral Theology, teaching young ministers how to conduct services and manage their pastoral life.
Kenneth was the beloved husband of Jean and dearly loved father of Allison, Shirley and John.
He was the devoted grandfather of Richard, Rebekah, Victoria, Daniel, Jordan, Bailie, Blake, Mia and Lily and also loving great-grandfather of Beth and Evie.
